Nokia 3 and 5 arrives in South Africa, offers a competitive tag price


HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced the availability of the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 in South Africa.  The Nokia 3 is a stunning new smartphone designed to deliver an outstanding experience with unprecedented value.  With a precision machined aluminium frame forged out of a single piece of aluminium, laminated 5” display with sculpted Corning® Gorilla® Glass and seamlessly integrated 8MP wide aperture cameras (front and back), the Nokia 3 packs a truly premium quality smartphone experience into its compact and elegant form. The Nokia 3 will market at an estimated retail price of R2,199.00. Maier concludes, “In today’s cash strapped times, where people aren’t willing to compromise on quality, design or delivery, the Nokia 3 is the perfect mobile companion for value-conscious consumers”.

The Nokia 5 is priced at R2,999 and has gone on sale in South Africa, with Vodacom reseller Cellucity and MTN listing deals for the device.

Cellucity listed the following 24-month contracts for the Nokia 5:

  • Vodacom uChoose Flexi 200 – R229 per month
  • Vodacom Smart Top Up S+ – R259 per month
  • Vodacom Smart Top Up M+ – R359 per month.

MTN said it will offer the Nokia 5 for:

  • My MTNChoice Flexi R200 – R249 per month
  • Cash deal – R2,999

Meanwhile, the new Nokia 3310 that will launch at the end of June with prices starting at R699 for the iconic phone.
