Next week is expected to be exciting for anything related to the booming mobile industry, as device makers, technology developers, software creators, and other top brands prepare for the Mobile Word Congress 2018. All eyes are set to Barcelona, Spain for the yearly technology exhibition and conference event which will run from February 26 to March 1, and that includes us here in Nokia Revolution, as we join avid fans in welcoming what could possibly be the new batch of Nokia-branded smartphones in a pre-event keynote that would be happening tomorrow, February 25.
HMD Global prepared some big surprises, some of which were already circulating the Internet for the past few weeks. Let’s go back to these rumors and see if these would be confirmed tomorrow.
In a recent article, we discussed the image renders of rumored Nokia smartphones share by @evleaks. One of the device is the Nokia 1. A handset expected to expand the low-cost line up of Nokia phones, the Nokia 1 is rumored as the first device from HMD Global to run on Android Go (lightweight version of the Android OS created for budget-friendly handsets to be launched on developing markets).
With a price tag that may range from $85 to $95, this budget smartphone comes with entry-level specs such as 720p display, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
Nokia 7 Plus
Are you a fan of the China-exclusive Nokia 7 who felt bad that it was not released globally? Worry no more, as the phone’s successor, the Nokia 7 Plus, is rumored to make its first appearance tomorrow with the possibility of an international rollout. Expect a lot of improvements including an upgraded rear (13Mp dual) and front camera (16MP) with Zeiss optics, better chipset (Snapdragon 660), and improved display (6 inches, with 18:9 aspect ratio).
Nokia 6 (2018)
Aside from the possible launch of two new smartphones, we are also expecting the announcement of the global release for the new Nokia 6 2018 version. Initially launched last month in China, it would be a great move if HMD Global will make the latest Nokia 6 version available to a wider audience. Just like the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 2018 brings a lot of changes in the spec sheet, as it runs on Snapdragon 630 chipset, 4GB RAM, options for internal storage (32GB or 64GB), and features Dual Sight camera technology to take Bothie shots. It would be a great addition if this device will carry a Zeiss optics.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
One significant rumor that we are excited to be confirmed tomorrow is the revival of the Nokia Sirocco . The said brand is associated with premium quality, as it was used way back in 2006 with the Nokia 8800 Sirocco (upgraded version of the popular sliding phone). There are updates from various tech sites referring to an improved version of the Nokia 8 which will be called Nokia 8 Sirocco or simply Sirocco, which will have higher storage space, dual front cameras, OLED display, and possible use of steel for the phone body. Can’t wait to see if this new smartphone will really be announced tomorrow!
Stay tuned as we deliver news fresh from Barcelona via their livestream event, which we will be sharing in the Nokia Revolution Facebook page. Get ready to be amazed with the Nokia’s new contribution in the mobile phone industry this 2018!
