Android Oreo for Nokia 5 and 6 is Now Rolling Out in Asia

Nokia 5 and 6 receives stable build of Android Oreo update across the countries Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to the announcement of Nokia-HMD’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas on Twitter last Jan 30, the global rollout of the update will be distributed gradually depending on the build number of each model and approval of carriers

In the meantime, here are the countries that are expected to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update on their phones.

For Nokia 5: Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal. In the other hand, for Nokia 6: Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal.

How to Update

Once available, you will receive a notification. Tap on it and download the update. The update is 1.7 GB in size. To prevent additional data charges on your cellular data, only download the update via Wi-Fi.

Faster Bootup and Stable OS

Users who updated their phone to the latest update reported and posted on some Facebook groups in the Philippines, says that boot time is much faster than the previous Beta release. In addition, the update includes new features in Android 8.0 Oreo like Picture-in-picture, notification dots. Google Play Protect is now also built-in in the settings app. Auto-fill passwords on sign-in pages is also added.
