In a country where consumers love budget-friendly smartphones, HMD Global’s latest batch of Nokia-branded Android devices is definitely a game-changer. By making world-class smartphones available to the market with reasonable price tags, we are no longer limited when it comes to our options. But while we have the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 now on sale, rumors are spreading around the web about a new Nokia handset that is expected to be much cheaper that the Nokia 3 but is packed with great specs. So, what does the rumored Nokia 2 smartphone has to offer? Let’s find out.
Here are the 5 things that you should know about the rumored upcoming Nokia 2:
1. Phone design
Our favorite tech leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) had shared product renders of the Nokia 2 last month and from the looks of it, HMD Global stayed true to the legacy of quality, design, and durability. It has that compact design that we’ve seen with the Nokia 3 but with curved corners. This reminds me of the earlier Nokia Lumia devices, particularly the Lumia 630 and 635.
2. Color options
Just like the latest batch of Nokia devices, we might get minimalist colors for the Nokia 2, such as the white and black variants shown in the leaked renders. I guess the colorful options will be limited to the Nokia 3310, but I don’t mind it – I feel that the current color options for Nokia Android handsets is an excellent choice as it conveys futurism and minimalism.
3. Larger than large battery size
While most Android devices have battery size around 2,000 to 3,000 mAh, the Nokia 2 will have a lot more power with it as it was rumored to have a 4,000 mAh battery. Yes, you read it right – 4,000 mAh! That’s a lot of talk time and game play to begin with!
4. Android OS version
Given that Android Oreo was already made available to most devices, we are expecting that the Nokia 2 will have the latest OS version installed within its compact body.
5. Release date and pricing
Will HMD Global announce the Nokia 2 this year? There is a high possibility that they may do so, with the possible date around this month or November – just in time for the upcoming Christmas season. While the Nokia 3 is being sold at PHP6,990, we might expect the Nokia 2 to be available at a lower price tag, possibly PHP4,990.
We are looking forward to the Nokia 2, as it can really help the brand in establishing a strong position in smartphone markets such as the Philippines. What are your thoughts about this rumored device. Share your thoughts with us!
