Now is the time that we are waiting for – the Mobile World Congress 2013. This much awaited event should start anytime soon. Various companies and mobile brands are here to deliver their newest gadgets, innovation and their vision for the mobile world. Nokia is expected to play big at today’s event, expected to unleash more Lumia devices plus new flagship to be announced.
We’ve had found several leaked images and information as to what Nokia would unveil at this event. We’ve heard of Catwalk, EOS, Lumia 720 and 520, Nokia tablet and more. Here’s the list of predictions for Nokia at this event.
NOKIA LUMIA ‘CATWALK’
This rumored device has surfaced last month and said to be the successor to Lumia 920. Catwalk should be the better version of the 920 in terms of built and design. This device should be an all-aluminum body to resolve the thickness and heavier construction from the 920. The features should be the same as on the 920 but we hope that this brings an enhanced version of the OIS.
The Nokia Laser is another rumored device to be unveiled at MWC. This device won’t be following the foot steps of the Catwalk but of the Lumia 920. Laser will be Verizon’s top tier device for this year. Sources have said that Microsoft will be backing up the carrier’s launch of this device heavily. This device would be more of a carrier specific Lumia 920 for Verizon.
According to sources, Nokia is planning for another PureView Windows Phone but patterned to the 808 Pureview camera sensor. This device will also debut the same anodized aluminum chassis rumored on the Lumia “Catwalk” project. I’m not sure what kind of processing chip will Nokia use to make this a possibility. But as I ahve mentioned on my previous blog that they can use the Snapdragon 800 has Dual Image Signal Processors (ISPs) up to 55MP which is more than enough for a 41 MP sensor. Based on dsmobile, that the EOS would be better than the Nokia 808 in terms of imaging prowess.
The Lumia 720 is the latest leaked device as the event draws near. This device is set to target a lower price segment but boasts of specs almost identical to 820. Lumia 720 will be having a 4.3-inch display, 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. Based on its model number, 720 should be a successor to 710.
Together with 720, this set for a lower priced segment as a successor to Lumia 510. The Lumia 520 is a lower end device, should have a 4-inch display, 512MB of RAM, a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and 4GB of storage. But looking at the specs, it’s far better than any low end device in the market.
This has been a rumor for the past 2 years with a patent design that was filed as well. Many of us want to have our own Nokia tablet to match with our Lumias. And I think it would be a hit once launched. With the launch of Surface RT and Pro, I think Nokia should also release their own to strengthen the Windows tablet dominance. But there is also a strong notion that Nokia tablets won’t be unveiled at this event.
We are thrilled and excited on what Nokia has to reveal. How about you? What are your forecast?
